As per one scholarly article in internet the plants that curtail
The Sulphur dioxide in atmosphere must have the properties of having milky substance within it branches or
The leaves must be thick or large ,as the sulphur dioxide will enter in to the leaf through the stomata to form the Sulphuric acid. Sulphuric acid causes burn in the leaf or other part of the plant.
Hence, the plant or tree must be able to sustain the burning affect.
I have discussed about those plants with my Ayurveda doctor friend Dr. Suresh Jakotia and finalised the plants as follows;
1. Plants with milky substance in branches
a. Raavi
b. Marri
c. Juvvi
d. Jilledu
2. Thick leafs& thorny plants
a. Aleovera
b. Brahmajamudu
c. Naagajemudu
d. Maaredu
3. Air purifier plants
• Addasaram
• Vaavili
• Snake plant
• Nalleru
The plants at serial number 3 are high oxygen giving plants and air purifiers. Vaavili is used as anti dote to sulpher in Ayurveda.
As per our discussion, if a plant is surrounded to its branches by the nalleru, the oxygen releasing capacity is multiplied to 10 times.
Hence, we may plant the above varieties of plants to curtail the SO2 emissions in and around NTPC area and mining area of SCCL.
