Most of the people don’t give much priority to the way of eating the meals.But it plays very vital role in the digestive system. When a person uses the 5 fingers to insert the food into the mouth, that habit don’t allow the air into the mouth.Mouth is the first organ in the digestive system and also releases the enzyme called Tailin.It is Base in the nature and neutralise the Hydro Chloric Acid.Thus, releasing the water and salt.
Whenever a person allows the one finger out of the mouth, it allows the air into the mouth.The air stops the easy reelase of tailin.It causes hinderance in the neutralising process, there by causing acidity.
The above process ensures the health of the people. Hence, it is advisable to eat with all the five fingers. In ayurveda, it was highly recommended to take food using the five fingers.
I also observed that some people sanitise their fingers and hand before taking meals.After washing hands, they dry it with cloth and then thoroughly dry their hands by rubbing thoroughly.This ensures the release of enzymes and conditions the entire body also . During my recent trip to the ellora, I observed one foriegner , possibly German, doing it.That means, we have forgotten our traditions and foriegners are following them.
Here, I would like to tell that some people sit before the food and wait for five minutes and do the prayer.It ensures the release of the enzymes and also positive harmones.The above two processes are called Conditioning (famously known as Pavlov’s Condition and Response theory).But, these activities have been in vogue in India since long time.
Also, sitting on the floor in Sukhasan (cross legged posture ) ensures the consumption of optimum food and leads to right digestion.
