During 2017 due to work pressure , lack of exercise and Yoga, uneven food habits, especially consumption of maida caused diabetes and hypertension. In addition to this, I have suffered from respiratory related problems, knee joint pains and gastric problems. Ironically I did not notice that i was suffering from all the above problems until I was severely sick.
I have recovered from all the ailments and become healthy only after one year.
I have done glucose measuring test in march ,2019 after half an hour after consuming food, due to time constraint. I have got the HBA1c test done and found it at 5.6 %. The ABG (Average Blood Glucose) level is 113 mg/dl.This shows the excellent control. Earlier, they were 6.2% and 140 and 125 mg/dl.
Hence, i started sharing my experiences for the benefit of the people suffering.
Identify the problem:
The affected person is the right person to identify, why he has become diabetic. Reasons are as belowThheriditary
1. Heriditary
2. Food habits
3. Tensions
4. Absence of sun in life
5. Excess weight
I have studied that heriditary diabetes can be extended by some medicine in ayurveda.
The present food habits of eating maida( processed wheat flour),edible oil made up petro products , high oil foods, tasting salt, packed food, carbide ripened fruits, packed food are the reason for the degeneration of all the metabolism. People eating outside must be careful about overall health. They are prone to many diseases, including diabetes.
In yoga, there is a method of cleansing the digestive system. One has to eat 50% of raw food, 10 to 15 days prior to this. All the clinged particles to intestine used to be cleansed out. Another method is to eat fibre rich food.
Tensions are primarily responsible for all ailments, including diabetes. One must learn to be cool. Meditation , pranayama and lifestyle changes will bring calm in to the life.
Excessive use of air conditioners has avoided presence of sun in life. The windows are closed, not allowing the sun. It is causing lack of Vitamin-D. Taking sun bath and sun gauging for half an hour a day are the solution for Vitamin-D induced diabetes.
The current research shows that diabete can be cured and by weight reduction. I remind you that our body reduces its weight, when diabetes is affected initially to fight it.So, we need to follow the weight reduction plan by reducing oily food, doing exercises, etc.
I have followed the following procedures for control of diabetes .

I have followed the 5 basic principles ;
1. Believed that diabetes is curable or extendable. Do not felt i am sick.
2. Ate less for 4 to 5 times and the easily digested foods
3. Always be happy
4. Drink more water slowly
5. Control the breath
Yoga:
1 hour yoga activity per day is continued . Earlier i was doing yoga for half an hour in continual manner. When i get time, i extended yoga, walking and exercise up to one to two hours.
I did dhyana ( meditation) for atleast 15 minutes . I have been a meditator since 2005. But, it was in continual mode. I have made it compulsory for most of the days.
I did Bhujangasana, sheershasana(a few times in week ), naukasana, arda matsyendrasana. These are very useful in activating pancreas.
anulom- vilom and khumbaka pranayama are also useful.The persons suffering from hypertension avoid the kapala bhati, at least till hypertension is controlled.
I used to do mudra pranayama, while in sitting posture and in walking posture also. I followed many mudras. 3 basic mudras are chin mudra, chinmaya and Aadi mudras. I did them in sitting posture.
The most important mudras for fighting diabetes are prana mudra and apaana mudra. Prana mudra increases the prana shakti (little finger and index finger together joined with thumb). It keeps me healthy in all respects.
Apaana mudra fights both the diabetes and hypertension. ( Index finger and middle finger together together joins the thumb). Most of the times, i use to do these mudras while walking.
When i came to know that Vitamin-D lacking causes and increases the diabetes, i started sitting under the sun for half an hour at least for a period of 2 months. Later , i started moving on bike for morning visits, instead of 4 wheeler (see my article in sbkashyapaeco.com). A few times i wore half cotton shirts to expose my body to sun.
I have added 3 important bitter ingredients to my food to subsidize the glucose levels. they are adhatoda vasica(Addasaram) , bitter gourd( kakara kaya) and Fenugreek( menthulu) .
I have consumed one adhatod vasika leaf in the morning hours. it not only decrease the glucose levels , but also keeps all the organs active.
The fenugreek seeds were soaked in the water during the night and seeds were Consumed during the morning with empty stomach. It ensures the regeneration of cells, In addition to decreasing the glucose levels.
In addition to above habits, I have started consuming leaves of many trees and plants. it includes Oma ,insulin plant, ranapala, guava, multi-vitamin plant ,etc.,whenever I get time. I have also consumed the Amla powder and Amla during its season.
I have Stored water in the copper Tumbler during the night and sip( little little in quantity ) the same immediately after waking. During the summers, I have consumed the pot water ( Ranjan).water plays very Vital role in up keeping the health of end organs.
Fortunately, i don’t have habit of drinking tea from childhood. It was irregular habit from adolescent days to till i get job. But, job holders always get offer of having tea. Here, i have started asking for luke warm water or lemonade or tender coconut water. Above three drinks subsidises the Diabetes, directly or indirectly.
If possible, I have consumed much water at once during the evening also. in toto i have consumed more water in a day than earlier. Water has power of reducing tensions, upkeeping the equilibrium of body.
I have avoided consuming the water in the plastic bottles. it is also stored for many days. Instead i have kept copper vessal in my vehicle. I have arranged steel bottles in the office also. Copper water has power of decreasing the glucose levels and anti- aging capacity. Water purification is also ensured.
Ayurveda treatment : initially i have used metaphormin 250 mg for 3 times a day, alongwith ayurvedic medicine. Later , allopathy tablets were stopped after a period of 1 year. Here I am not mentioning the name of the doctor and Ayurvedic treatment I have taken, because it depends from person to person. Expert ayurvedic doctor opinion has to be taken in case by case. First one has to assess the reason for occurring of diabetes.
I assure you that there are many ayurvedic doctors who can cure the diabetes and its related problems within a span of 1 to 2 years. At least they can control diabetes within a short span.(i gave you the names and numbers of ayurvedic doctors in the end)
Raw food.
Fruits: i have started consuming one local fruit just before or half an hour before food ( not imported). They lack the pranashakti, as we consume them after 15 days.). I preferred seasonal fruits like orange, sweet lime, grapes, guava watermelon, muskmelon, etc. They won’t increase the Blood Glucose levels, if taken in limited quantities. I have not consumed carbide ripened fruits.
Nuts and dry fruits : I have consumed the dry fruits in raw manner ( not fried and not salted) in limited scale. I preferred dates. It has a lot of advantages.
Change in food: like many others I have started consuming chapati made up of wheat. I have also tried the chapati made up of maize.
Above changes did not matched . I realised that they are causing gastric problems (i don’t chew much) . In 2018 December I have started taking the millets. I have added turmeric to the millets . I have also added carrots ,beans to millets. As the millet are Soft, it avoided the gastric problems first. Turmeric has also power to control the Blood glucose.
There are many advantages with the millets. They are rich in fibre, vitamins,calcium and other minerals. I ate them for 3 times in a days. Whenever i attended any function or away from home, i consumed rice or chapati.
The rich fibre cleanses the digestive system , excretory system and fat. Here i want to tell that intestine also produces the insulin. High consuming of maida, petro bases oils are clinging to intestine and it lost the ability to produce insuline. It will reoccur on consumption of rich fibred millets. Also, fibre releases the glucose in to blood slowly. ( for this reason juices and cool drinks to be avoided) . Over a period of time, insulin production will be done naturally in our own body. In march 2019, i have started using the palm jaggery. It has high sucrose content and potassium content. Hence, controlles the diabetes and hypertension.
I suggested myself soft food and watery curries to my diet. As the oil content grows in the food, it increases the glucose levels and fat levels there by increasing the diabeties related problems.
I have also stopped consuming the packed refined oil . I came to know that the oil that we are using is contaminated with petro products and its residues. It is very danger to our metabolism. Hence, I have started using the oil extracted in local mill. its cost is more. But, its not costlier than our health.
I have done 3 special activities for increment of pranashakti;
1.Super brain yoga : most of the days, i did super brain yoga. It ensures good respiration and positive thoughts.
2. Tree Hugging: i used to hug the neem tree in the morning hours for 5 to 10 minutes. It increases the pranashakti and heals the ailments, in addition to curing diabetes
3. Ash gourd juice: In the initial days of affecting with the diabetes I have taken Ash gourd juice in the morning hours with empty stomach for awhile of 3 months. it is believed that it is the highest Pranashakti giving substances, in addition to curing many ailments. I have also consumed pumpkin juice .
Clapping: i have clapped for 108 times per day ,duly controlling the breath and internally chanting the omkara.
It not only decreases the hypertension but also stimulates many organs and controls The breath automatically.
Reading jokes:
I always tried to read the jokes and watch the comedy in the TV and YouTube always try to be Joyful.
Courageousness: I always suggest myself that I should be courageous at any cost. I know that I lost my health due to lack of courageousness. I also know that everything can be regained except health after certain point of time. This auto suggestion made me to be courageous during the difficult Times. I have made a habit of sleeping as early as possible and waking up early. It provided me time for yoga and physical activity.
Went to market on my own: A few times i used to go to weekly market in my native place with my mother. It is a place where we get many items cheaply. While i was in Hyderabad, i used to do the same. But, i couldn’t get time to go to market, due to time constraint. However, i have restarted going to Sunday market in 2019 in Ramagundam. I will tell you the advantage of going to market . Food is the 3rd most important requirement after air and water. “We are what we eat”. If any one doesn’t prioritise this activity ,he is tend to loose. He is compelled to eat what is brought by his servants. ( it is in case of rich people and officers only). We can access many kind of vegetables, fruits, nuts,etc. This habit brought a lot of nutritional food in to our bodies. We can get a lot at low cost. Eating more vegetables is very crucial in diabetes. Adding more quantity of curries to rice also lowers the glucose levels. I eat my meals with more than 2 curries. I thank my wife for this arrangement. My father was told by his Guru that eat rice or chapati with 50% curry quantities. It ensures the health. I learnt it from him.
I learnt the accu-pressure during the 2010. I use to pressure some points according to the need. One has to be trained at the expert to use this art.
Night walking: It plays very vital role in lowering the Blood Glucose levels. I have studied in a scientific study that night walking after meals for 10 minutes would lower the Blood Glucose levels at least 10%.
There is elucidation about shatavali in ayurvedic texts, which means 100 yards walking atleast ,during the night after meals . There are many advantages associated with it. It includes better digestion, proper rest to body and lowering the Blood Glucose levels.
I have been a vegetarian from 1993 from the age of 18. I have become a vegan in the 2017. Cow ghee is exception to that. I am a teto-teller from childhood. I am non-smoker. Hence, i continued the same good habits.
I have not only depended on the advice of doctors, but also I listen to too many videos and studied literature on the diabetics and its related problems. I have also studied the Ayurvedic literature to have a better understanding. I have also discussed with old and experienced patients, who successfully controlled the diabetes. Ironically Allopathy drugs do not have the capacity to rejuvenate the pancreas. It only reduces the glucose levels so it is better to go for the Ayurvedic medicine and treatment.
What i didn’t do:
1. I did not consume juices and cool drinks. They shoot up glucose levels immediately.
2. I have stopped eating sweets in the initial days. Subsequently ate less sweets.
3. I stopped eating the hard substances and oily foods.
4. I stopped eating outside or consumed less in unavoidable circumstances.
5. I have avoided eating the packed food. It naturally increases the diabetes risk and hypertension. I have large appetite. Hence, i have arranged plenty of fruits in my vehicle.
6. I have not done hot water bath, except in winter .
7. I stopped consuming iodized salt. Started consuming Rock salt.
8. I asked my wife to stop cooking in aluminium vessel. Started cooking in brass vessel.
What to do When you don’t have tablets?
1. Don’t be panic, when you don’t have tablets. It increases your Glucose levels further. Just drink one or 2 glasses of hot water. Auto suggest your brain that you can sustain without tablets for 3 days(Or)
2. You can eat 1 or 2 addasaram leaves. Else take some aloevera stem. (or)
3. Soak (Fenugreek) menthulu in water for some time and eat them.
4. Also, eat little quantities of food . Prefer raw food and be in apaana mudra for 15 minutes , twice in a day.
Request to society:
1. Lifestyle diseases have become increasingly common . The first step philanthropists can take is to serve the different food for the affected persons during the marriages. It is need of the hour. When people offer a different tea to a diabetic in since long ago, why not arrange a different food to them during marriages?
2. Arrange low oil food, low salted and low sugered diet.
3. Arrange more raw food and fruits. In fact it is useful to healthy people also.
4. Arrange lemonade, buttermilk during the summer.
5. Don’t serve liquor in receptions. It spoils the society, as some diabetics drink unlimited forgetting everything.
6. Spread the useful herbal plants in diabetes like insulin, addasaram, Ranapala, thippa theega, curry leaves.
7. Arrange Yoga classes for the people affected and prone to diabetes.
8. Help the affected and persons prone to it in continuing their laws. Don’t ask them to break their laws.
9. Don’t serve the food in the plastic wrapped paper plates. It not only spoils the environment, but also weakens the body.
10. Establish more number of dialasis centres serve them at low cost.
11. Put efforts to minimise the cost of ayurvedic medicines of diabetes .
12. Establish more open air jims.
13. Form the Common Interest Group and discuss the success stories of curing/Control/ extending the diabetes.
14. Establish own kitchen gardens. The excessive use of pesticides and fertilisers are reason for many health ailments. Non-pesticide Management can be also taken up for Wellbeing of society.
Ayurvedic treatment and alternative medicine for diabetes is a kind of Bio-remediation. Where as allopathic treatment is a chemical treatment, where people loose their end organs and a few people lose their life in the middle ages ironically.
My attempt of writing this article is to enlighten at least a few people. I feel that i am successful in my endeavour. I request to share this , if you like it.
